The Blue Carbon Network (BCnet) Philippines

The Blue Carbon Network (BCnet) links institutions, agencies and citizen scientists to collaborate in their Blue Carbon research and work in the communities within the Coral Triangle Region.

The mission of the Blue Carbon Network (BCnet) Philippines is to conduct, promote and provide research, technical assistance and education services in support of the missions of partner institutions and agencies concerning natural and socioeconomic blue carbon resource assessment and conservation in response to local and global environmental threats.

We are all over the Philippines

The Blue Carbon Network (BCnet) Philippines is overseen by the Project Management Office (PMO) and is grouped into three clusters—Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The network is composed of Provincial and Local Government Offices, National Government Agencies, State Universities and Colleges, Non-Government Offices and People's Organizations. Members come from the environment, education, tourism, business, culture, social, energy and legal sectors.

Activities and initiatives centered around advancing Blue Carbon research in the country have been conducted together with the various members of the network. Check our past events here.

BCnet Philippines Activities in 2021

Since the pandemic in 2020, the BCnet has adjusted to the new normal way of communicating with its partners through its online meetings and workshops. In 2021, three virtual workshops were conducted by BCnet-Luzon Cluster, Feb 5, July 31, and Oct. 1, and one by the BCnet-Mindanao in Nov 26.

The BCnet also launched its 2022 calendar featuring photo contributions from its members. It highlights the BlueCARES and BCnet accomplishments as well as Blue Carbon and Citizen Science research tools.
