The BCnet Mindanao training was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants on blue carbon ecosystem and remote sensing methods and applications.

The BCnet Luzon Virtual Workshops were capacity building efforts that aimed to enhance the skills of participants in mapping and monitoring coastal resources. The workshops discussed the different Citizen Science initiatives for seagrass monitoring, and continued training for mangrove mapping using the Mangrove Vegetation Index (MVI) in Google Earth Engine.

The Blue Carbon Session introduced the blue carbon concept and the results of various research and development endeavors on the topic. This special session in the 15th National Symposium on Marine Science (PAMS 15) included presentations from the BlueCARES Project and the IAMBlueCECAM Program as well as other papers on blue carbon.

The 1st National Blue Carbon Symposium (NBCS-1) brought together the experts and practitioners from the Philippines and SE Asian region to better understand Blue Carbon as an ecosystem service to mitigate climate and human impacts on coastal ecosystems – and how to respond to these challenges.
